Week 31 - Inflaton Resonance

Inflaton Resonance captures a night where momentum took over and the room locked into a shared pulse. Featuring Jonathan Greene on drums, Joseph Dowdy on saxophone, Melchi on keys, Emmet Moberly on guitar, and Kevin Beck on guitar, this session leaned heavily into groove, texture, and collective listening.

One of the defining moments of the night is Gravitic Dissonance. Joseph began the piece alone on sax with a dark, diminished idea that immediately set the tone. The band fell in around it instinctively, settling into a deep, Dilla-esque pocket that had the entire room nodding along. Kevin layered spacious, ambient guitar textures—borrowed gear and all—while Jonathan and the bass held the groove steady and unshakeable, letting the tension and release unfold naturally.

The energy in the room was amplified by longtime collaborator Daniel Fox Johnston of Stillframe Storytelling, who livestreamed the session and transformed the space with lights, fog, and a carefully shaped visual atmosphere. His footage captures the physicality of the music as it happened—raw, immersive, and alive.

Inflaton Resonance is about expansion through connection: ideas accelerating, grooves stabilizing, and a group of musicians moving together without hesitation. This recording documents that moment in full, exactly as it sounded and felt.
