Week 15: Kessler Run

Live at Easy Tiger Beer Garden — Winston-Salem, NC

This session took off fast and didn’t look back—blasting through gravitational anomalies and back-alley wormholes into the groove-fueled unknown. We welcomed back the phenomenal Melchi Kpade on keys, whose deep rhythmic feel and cosmic harmonic palette anchored the session with elegance and fire. Joseph Dowdy switched effortlessly between saxes and flute, as always summoning textures from far beyond. Jonathan Greene’s drums formed a molten core—pushing and pulling the pulse with an intuitive command of flow.

We were joined by two brilliant guests midflight: Kevin Beck and Alexander Nelson sat in on guitar, each adding layers of shimmer, grit, and electricity. And just as the second set launched, Michael Anderson jumped in on keys, triggering a shift in the sonic gravity.

The night felt alive—room buzzing, audience locked in, band communicating at light speed. From strange funk rituals to impressionistic sound paintings to tangled time signatures folded into space-jazz forms, Kessler Run is a journey through the wormhole in style.
